I'm Alex and welcome to Detail My Car!

Based in Red Beach, Whangaparaoa, Auckland, I provide a high quality mobile and "in house" service that caters to each individual's needs. From detailed car washes to full vehicle deep cleaning & polishing, there is a service for everyone.

My Story

My name is Alex Windlebourne, and I was raised on the Hibiscus Coast in Auckland. I went through all my schooling there and focused on many sports, the most competitive being football (soccer). Both indoor and outdoor I represented at a high level and grew up always wanting to be the next pro. In 2016 I was injured in my knee suffering from an ACL and meniscal tear which ultimately stopped me from playing. This lead me to my other passion, cars. 

My dad being a petrol head, I grew up with a love and passion for all types of motorised vehicles. Throughout my teenage years my main source of income was buying and selling cars and motorbikes, and I gained a lot of knowledge and experience. At some point during the process I realised that my favourite aspect of "flipping" vehicles was the preparation of them, taking them from a somewhat bad state into a highly presentable and profitable vehicle.

This was the beginning of my passion for cleaning/detailing/grooming cars. For years I practiced with different products on my own cars, family cars and friends cars until eventually I decided (after many friends and family also suggested) that I turn my passion into a business.

So here it is, Detail My Car. I've been so excited to have the opportunity to work on a variety of different vehicles, and when a clients face lights up at the end of the job, I couldn't be happier.

To share my love of cars, by making them look as good as they should.

My Vision

Detail My Car was created to improve vehicle ownership and driving experience. I want everyone to enjoy their cars whether that's a show stopping masterpiece or a daily driver, everyone loves when their car is clean, and I will bring that love into each and every vehicle I detail to give you the ride you desire.
